S2E09 – Drawn Out: The Comic Book Episode w/ Kevin Eastman

From the 1930s to today, comic books have had a major part in society – from war time propaganda to box office hits. While the history is a relatively recent area of study, it’s one filled with artists, visionaries, political propaganda, conspiracy, fear mongering and fans. In the Comic Book episode of Alt.Pop.Repeat, we dive into the catalyst moments where comic books crossed over into the mainstream, starting in the 12th century right up to Free Comic Book Day and the underground Comix scene that emerged in the 60s.

Who better to talk about comic books, then the man who co-created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman. Kevin is an American comic book artist and writer who, (besides his work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with co-creator Peter Laird) Eastman was also the former the editor and publisher of the magazine Heavy Metal and has also worked on V-WarsZombie WarFistful of Blood along with Simon BisleyThe Kamandi Challenge along with Freddie E.
