S2E12 – Subculture of Sneakers w/ DJ Skee

Where did sneakers originate and how did sneaker culture become an industry worth billions of dollars? What started as sports shoe is now a highly collectable fashion item that’s walked it’s way off the court and into the closets of millionaires.

Yes, we’re tracking how sneakers inspired a subculture of collectors knowns as “Sneakerheads” and how the shoes became – not just a mainstream trend – but an every day staple.

Joining us is DJ Skee, a man who built an empire by consistently identifying the next trends in music and culture first. As a DJ, Skee is best known for introducing the world to artists including Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and more on his TV and radio platforms. Skee has produced for defining artists of this era ranging from Snoop Dogg to Michael Jackson and composed music for top selling video game series like HALO and Ghost Recon. But, it’s his connection with sneakers that makes DJ Skee the perfect guest for this episode.

Not only does he have a sneaker collection rumoured to be valued over a $1 million dollars, he also produced the 2015 documentary “Sneakerheadz”, which is all about our subject in question: Sneakers!
