We’re Back with Season 2

In 2020 we launched, Alt.Pop.Repeat… nervously and excitedly, we put our project out into the world. We were hopeful that even if just a few people would listen it would be worth the effort.

A year later, the number of monthly downloads puts us in the top 25% of global podcasts, we’re charting around the world and we’re interviewing folks from DMC from Run DMC to David Guetta and everyone in between.

The initial concept for Alt.Pop.Repeat was looking at how some topics have always been apart of our conversations but take different forms over the ages. Like Rise of the Divine Feminine is seen in #MeToo, or how legends of beings from the skies exist on cave drawings to religion – now we have increasing number of people who are obsessed with aliens.

But, Alt.Pop.Repeat didn’t stop there.

The show evolved into the first show of its kind to take our listeners on a journey through pop culture by examining the counter and subcultures that define it. We are actively deconstructing mainstream culture by defining the intersections where counterculture became pop by using a term we coined, called a “sync”.

Over the course of each episode, we enquire the help of celebrities and experts to define these overlooked catalyst moments to understand who, what and how popular culture became pop.  We’ve spoken to Tommy Chong, George Stroumboulopoulos, Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell, Dave Foley, Trinity “The Tuck” Taylor, Bif Naked, Coolio, DMC, and more in an effort to dive into a wide range of cultural topics including, Punk, Internet culture, Spirituality, Drag, Astrology, Cannabis, Hip-Hop, Yoga, comic book culture, the LGBTQ+ movement,Ufology (the study of UFO’s), Civil Rights, the Women’s Rights Movement, Cosplay, K-Pop, DJ and EDM culture, Environmentalism and Veganism, and many more.

I guess you could say that Alt.Pop.Repeat strives to unbox the moments that defines Western popular culture.

Hope you’ll join us for Season 2! Or check us out wherever you love to listen to podcasts, including on Dash Radio every Friday at 12pm PST/3pm EST & Saturday at 8pm PST/11pm EST
